This summer we are being graced with a robin family growing out of an already used nest that sits above our motion light just beside our patio. Last year's nest of eggs did not survive the predator that left blue shell fragments, evidence of foul play throughout the yard. I was crushed. But who would have thought that nest would be reused this year by another family of robins!
Well, I was pretty excited yet caution remained a part of my optimism. Aren't robin's eggs so beautiful? Every day I checked the nest and watched the yard, making sure mama was paying attention to her nest of soon-to-be babies. Then one day it happened.
We had triplets!
Eventually we noticed there were only two left in the nest, indicating sadly, one of them did not survive.

And now they are grown and ready to fledge. Stay tuned.
Oh my gosh, you got wonderful photos! what cuties. We have finches that build a nest outside our window almost every year. But nothing ever survives. Likely because we have so many cats and squirrels around.
ReplyDeleteSo nice to be able to view their progress. Those eggs are such a beautiful shade of blue. Soon you'll be saying bye bye birdie! Enjoy them while you can. Love, ma
