Spider Talk

I've changed. Let me explain.

Whether it be born in me or a thing that was learned from my mom who feared spiders greatly, the first thing I used to do when I'd see a spider is find a shoe. ~~ Squishy~~ Squishy ~ uh oh, bye-bye!

That was then.

I have joined a Facebook group that identifies spiders and their purposes. Many being harmless, some - not so much. One thing is for sure though, these are spider lovers on this group and you best not comment that you used a shoe on one of the precious insects they study and love.

I have become particularly curious and enamored by the jumping spider, one I had been terrified of before now, and probably still would be if it were to jump on me! But listen - do an online search and see for yourself how cute they are. I mean...  some people have them for pets, make mini houses for them along with mini furnishings and everything. Not me. I'm not there yet. Probably never will be.

However...

I am happy to announce that I now accept that I share space in this world with spiders but I will not accept that I share a house with them. That is why I purchased a catch and release device on TikTok shop that easily traps said bug and then releases it unharmed into its rightful habitat - OUTSIDE!

This guy an 'orb weaver' according to Chat GPT,
made his home on the side of our pool each
night after dark. I'd shine the light on him when
I'd take Bubbles out for her final potty - and
there he was. The prettiest new web and like he was
posing for me. I love the shadow showing behind
him. (or her).

Forever On My Mind

Camp Serenity is coming along nicely.  After our first full night there, I realized I would need some change, such as an air mattress for comfort in hopes of a good night's sleep.  And so, we took our air mattress down and tried it in a spot that would work (the booth/table that pulls out into a bed).  I no sooner laid down on that newly blowed up mattress than a giant bee zoomed past me causing me to scream and run for cover... well... outside was my safe place at that point.

Bees in a camper = not cool.

G is taking care of that for me.  For us.

So, when I was pretty sure all was safe inside I decided to sit on the sofa that pulls out into a bed (the hard one that I cannot sleep on) and check out the new TV/DVD player that G had purchased and hooked up.  As I was sitting there trying to figure out the remote, a tickling on my leg and then a spider siting on that same leg caused yet another blood curdling scream.  G thought it was another bee.  No, worse.

A spider!!!!!

It got away.  It will be forever on my mind.

On our way home we noticed (compliments of G having left his car window's open) a plump and huge red ant crawling the inside windshield.  My seat belt prevented me from killing it, and it disappeared.  For a while.  In the corner of my eye I saw him.  This time, I unhooked the seat belt and got him!  RIP Mr. Huge RedAnt.

But that Spider.  He will be forever on my mind.  Him and his family and friends.  Forever.  On my mind.

But I will need to suck it up, buttercup if I wish to enjoy Camp Serenity in the future.  My only hope is that I never, ever, ever, ever, ever, NEVER see a snake inside that camper.   I don't want to have to change the name of our place to Little Camp of Horrors.

Meanwhile, back at home my little Chicklets ready themselves for Bible School.  They are having a great week with lot's of fun learning about Jesus.

And in other news!  The pool is now open!!

And me?  I'm busy these days chasing baby bunnies away from eating the clover in my yard.  One day soon I hope to catch one of those little critters and bring it inside.  Dad loves new toys.

Yard Sale Finds and Mr. Long Legs

Sharing Just a few of my yard sale finds today.

I loved this lazy susan set designed with dried flowers, trivet and napkin holder.

Gary has an eye for unusual things.  He was thrilled to pay $3 for this tub of old bottles that an elderly lady had in her basement for years.

The purple boom box is for Rissie.  She loves purple.  Only $1.50 and it looks brand new!!

$3 for this container filled with nuts, bolts, screws, and ...

tiny perfume bottles...

I love this basket!  Anything with color...

Baskets.  color.  Love it!!

The same elderly lady who had the bottles, sold us this watch for $2.

I like blue.

After yard sales I worked a little outside, spreading this bark mulch.  Some of my flowers are starting to come up...
I set a daddy long leg free...  The only spider I won't kill... usually.  As a child I was always led to believe they are harmless and good spiders hence the 'daddy' part of it's name.  Daddy's are good.  So daddy long leg's must be good.
When Mr. Long Legs found his way into my hair and was hanging half way down my face taunting me with his wiggling long legs, I had no choice but to scream first, throw him to the ground and stomp on him.
I had to kill him.
