Thoughtful Thursday and Jimmy-Legs

Tuesday was spa day.  Spa day is always ruffffffff  for me since standing too long gives me jimmy-legs (legs that shake in case you have never watched Sienfeld)

Wednesday dad took me to camp and we went for a walk and I was tired and hot and spent from the previous day which was spa day and jimmy-leg day.

Now I rest.

They Were Good

It was a big deal, Fire Prevention Week at our school.  Good ol' Eckhart Elementary.  My memories of first grade included:

* sitting in a semi-circle in the front of the room and listening to Miss Evans read to us at story time.

* lunch time and the sweet smell of the soap dispenser as we lined up in the cloak room where the sink was to wash our hands.  Then, getting my packed lunch from back there and taking it to my desk and waiting for the teacher to tell us to line up.  My stomach would be growling angrily at me by then!

* Holiday plays in the school cafeteria/auditorium.

* Riding that big yellow bus.

* Fire prevention week where one kid from each class would win $2.50 if he or she were chosen to have colored the best picture for the contest.  I was excited to be a winner for 3 of the 6 years of my elementary school days there.   I wish I could remember what I did with that money so many years ago at age six.  I would hope that I didn't run to the candy store with it...  but...  I really do not remember.  It was a lot of loot at the time!  Especially for a poor Walton Thomas kid such as myself.

They were indeed good ol' days!  Just the owning of innocence in itself made them good.  Indeed!

  First grade, first in line to get my award and my envelope with $2.50.

Let's Be Friends

It is like spring here today!  I like it.  But here's the problem.  We are supposed to have warmer temps for days on end and then BAM winter again!

Last year this happened and our beautiful trees out front did not bloom because they budded during the warm and died when the cold came.

*sad face here*

Here is what I like to do to pass time in the winter months:

* watch tv
* go to bed early
* wear pjs when not working
* sleep late
* watch more tv

And speaking of doodling, My granddaughters (especially Summer) love when I draw pictures on there.  Summer climbs up into my lap and wants to watch and then she'll draw too.  It is calming.  And fun.  We name the characters we draw according to how their look turns out.

So.  I decided to take many of my winter iPad creations and put together a book for kids.  I can't wait to show it to Summer and Marissa!

Do you have a kid in your life and a device where you can read an ebook?  Then be sure and buy a copy of LETS BE FRIENDS from Blurb for just $1.99!  This will be coming out on Amazon in a couple of days (hard copy) but it is very costly to buy that way (34.99).

I hope everyone is staying warm and safe.  There is so much bad stuff going on in this world...  we need to pray and to think positive thoughts.

We'll See How That Goes....

It's a beautiful thing.  Watching the grand-angels enjoy the Christmas village one last time before putting it away for the year.

Next year the plan will be to get them involved in putting it up and taking it down.  It's a lot of work.  We're all getting older, which means they are becoming more able and I, less.

I was thinking a night of pizza, ice cream and hard work.  We'll see how that goes...

Today we have ice.  Lots and lots of ice.

And one angry ape!
