A Hatchimals Kind of Christmas

Just some of the days highlights...

Gracie...  tell all of our bloggy friends about the trouble you got into today...

Mom and Dad had to leave for a while and this one package that presumably belongs to Jasper who was not here to open it...  well...  it started taunting me and teasing me and since I was forced to wear jingle bells all day today I was in a bad mood anyways and so...   I didn't do it.  New toy fox did it.

The Fad and and Some Other Stuff

Last year on Thanksgiving:

(Awe Jasper...  I missed him this year)

Unfortunately, this year a family separation resulted in holidays without the boys so much...    Divorce...  ugh...   Family is scattered and things are never the same.

But on a high note:  I am Christmas shopping and I will be decorating soon.  Tis the season!!  And it will be one awesome Christmas!

So how was your Thanksgiving?

Did you go Black Friday shopping?  Not me! I shopped early on Amazon and I snagged that hard-to-get item for the grands (FIVE TOTAL!!)  at regular price ..... yep...  the hottest and most sought after toy ~ the one thats all the rage this year!!   Can you guess what that item is?  People are now
paying five and six times the regular price because their kids just HAVE TO HAVE ONE!    Ha!
I'll let you think about that one.

Today I visited Ellie.  My niece.  My rambunctious, playful, annoying, wild, crazy, doxie/lab black niece.  It was interesting watching the antics of the little trouble-maker.   She'll learn.  She's just a kid.  Gracie.

Treasures

May 27, 1984

Spring is in full swing and the days are warm and mostly sunny now.  The winter was long and harsh, freezing temperatures and blustery snow made this mom of two mischievous little boys a little stir crazy.   I am thankful for my sister who lives next door.  She comes to visit often, which helps me to maintain my sanity.    Jackie goes to school now, so I do get a break from the chaos on weekdays.  Justin does okay as long as he doesn't have his brother Jackie to instigate trouble.

I love the weekends the most.  I can hear the boys laughing and playing in the sandbox through the screen in the bedroom window.  I peeked out just a minute ago.  Cars, trucks, and army men were racing through sand dunes.  What their mission is, I do not know.  I just know that it's a quiet, sunny day on our hill and our boys are playing happily in their world of make believe.

Digging up treasures can be fun for six year old boys.  Especially to unearth the most precious of gems:  Daddy's old toys.

Digging around the old sandbox where his daddy played almost 30 years ago Jake found some interesting finds.

When I look at them, I remember my boy, dirty face and mussed hair...  living in a world of perfect days without a care in the world.  And I miss him.

But then I look into the eyes of his own six year old, and my boy is with me still.

Suspicions

Dear Diary,

Mom and Dad went to a place called Hagerstown yesterday for dinner and a movie.
They went without me.

I could have sworn I heard them say they wanted to get away from it all.
Does that include me?  What do you think?!

I guess they felt guilty about leaving me here all alone, because  they returned with a new toy for me.  Well..  they said it was for me.

I have my suspicions though...  and I'm thinking that it was actually for them. I had to fight tooth and nail to get it away from them as they tossed it back and forth, making it squeak and trying to keep it away from me.

I'm tired now... and I just want some alone time with my their new toy.  Gracie.

Gracie Wins

It looks like everyone was on her side.
 Of course Gracie wins.

 She does own me, right?
