She's Growing Up

Last night Rissi spent the night.  We went to a Christmas event...  and we were standing, trying to see the live Nativity over the crowd of people...

I went to pick her up so she could see over the people...

And...

I couldn't pick her up :-(

She's growing up!  I must have blinked....

Facectomy

Remember my friend Wally?
Welp.
Now there is Wally Jr.

Both Wally and Wally Jr. are defective.
They have problems with their heads.

Dad had to give Wally Sr. a facectomy.  He blames me for Wally's almost amputated head and says I was trying to eat Wally's brains away.

I was not!

Then there's Wally Jr. who keeps teasing me with those big, bright crossed eyes of his....

He thinks just cause he still has his brains in tact that he's invincible...

But I have plenty of references that will testify....

That I can rip away his guts in just 2 minutes flat....

And I can wipe that squeaker faced smile off his face in a mere 5 minutes by tearing him from limb to limb and pulling every single squeaker from his scrawny, long, pathetic, sickly, green body....
Of course, I would never do such a thing.  I could,  if I wanted to.  But that's just not me.

Mom says I have too many toys, and if I want Santa to bring me new ones I will have to get rid of some of what I have.

Does anydog need a slightly used, defeated, awesome-smelling squirrely friend...  a cheeseburger...  a coonskin cap...  or perhaps a squeaky, somewhat slobbered on ball?

A Late Birthday Wish for Jake

Six years ago (Wednesday, Dec. 11, 2007),
we were blessed with one more angel.

GrandAngel #2 - Jake Montgomery Geary

He was a preemie

And though he was in the hospital for a little over a week, he got out just in time to be our little Santa....

Jake has grown to be a sweet, healthy, ornery little guy.

All boy.

Last month he became very ill, suffering from mono and strep throat.  He was sick for almost a month with a fever peaking at 105 and hovering at around 103.

This is a video I took of him in the hospital
saying hi to his cousin Rissi.

Lots of prayers and good thoughts were sent his way, and today he is doing much better.

Happy 6th Birthday Jake!

Seeing his big, mischievous smile again warms my heart!

Dogs and Depression

The sun does not shine.
It is too wet to play.
So I sit in the house
All these cold, cold, wet days

I sit there with Mom.
We sit there, we two.
And I say "How I wish
I had something to do!"

Too wet to go out
And too cold to play ball.
So we sat in the house.
We do nothing at all.

So all we can do is to

Sit!
Sit!
Sit!
Sit!

And I do not like it.
Not one little bit.
*Sigh*

So finally Dad says,
I got idea!  Lets take Gracie to the tennis courts and give her some exercise.

The sun does not shine.
It is too wet to play....
And you'd think Mom would not bath me
On this cold, cold, wet day.

But she does.

And I don't know if I can forgive her.

ALL CLEAN!

Top 5 Reasons Why I Hate Christmas by Gracie Phillip

5. Strange blinking lights throughout my house.

4.  Junk Christmas decorations in my way.

3.  Focus goes from the dog to the kids.

2.  My window!  My recliner is moved away from my window...  and for What!!!???

Which brings me to my #1 Reason for hating Christmas:

1.  This should speak for itself:

Buh Humbug!

Goodbye Thanksgiving.... Hello Christmas

This was my year to cook.  So when Gary said he'd take the family out for dinner...  all I could say is
"Yes!"
**with much enthusiasm and thankfulness**

Now the only problem with going to a buffet is...  Gracie.  Obviously, taking a doggie bag home is taboo in buffet-land.

But me, being the loving mother that I am to my Gracie, went against the law of the land and stuffed my pocketbook with 'extra' turkey for my girl.
Shhhhhhh...  don't tell.

I hope you all had a blessed, joyful, peace-filled Thanksgiving Day!

Dear Diary,

Good news/bad news.  Good news: Turkey came home with Mom when she and Dad went out the other day.  MMMMMM  Good!  Bad news:  My chair has been moved.  My window is no longer mine.  A bunch of faux houses, trees, and a loud obnoxious thing that goes round and round a track has been put in its place.  It's gonna be a long cold winter!
