Opinions. Facts. Facebook. Disagreements. Left. Right. Yadda~Yadda~Yadda

Once again, Facebook has become a battleground for political argument.  And yes, I get sucked right into the drama as I feel the need to share my opinion and thoughts as well.

I respect deeply everyones right to their own opinions, thoughts, beliefs etc.  So I rarely share my 2 cents worth on someone else's fb post if it goes against what I believe is right and true.  Let them have their own circle of friends high-five them on what they believe to be right.   Who wants argument!

If the posts that I share are offensive in any way to anyone, then I would hope that the opposing opinion would unfollow me.  (I learned this is possible last year after it was too late - when I un-friended 3/4 of my Facebook friends because of political differences in hopes for a more peaceful Facebook experience)   Un-friending leads to hard feelings and sadly,  relationships with family are affected.  Now, if I do not want to see a friends posts, I just un-follow them.  Still friends. Just in disagreement about some stuff.  Absolutely no hard feelings.  (Forever learning!!)

I like Facebook though.  It's a place to share prayer requests, news, thoughts, photos, and yes... even opinions.   It should never get ugly.

One might say, I go by facts only.  But really...  will the media be honest in reporting facts or will they slant the story to make it juicy?  We should never let media news be our final enlightenment.  I'd say...   dig a little deeper if you want truth.

*sigh*

Though sometimes I put my foot in my mouth, I try to choose my words wisely when I post.  As is in today's most recent post:

So maybe there is something I am not understanding. I just watched a news clip where one of the Muslims that were detained at the airport was released just days later. All checked out okay. My question is, how will our president fight terrorism if he does not take the steps to do so? Personally, if I were detained for a couple of days in order for me to be 'checked out' to make sure I was not a terrorist, I might be a little put out by it but looking at the big picture it is for my own safety. If I am innocent, why would I make such a fuss? Shouldn't we be willing to be a part of the fix for the problem? I am not saying this to start an argument... I just truly do not understand. Are these detainees being tortured or not being fed or being mistreated? I will give you an example. Many years ago I sat in my old beat up car along the quiet country road waiting for the school bus to come and drop my kids off so I could take them home. A police officer pulled up in back of me and came to my car asking me for my registration, etc. He checked me out. Asked me what I was doing there. Said I looked suspicious. Honestly, I was okay with it. Just an officer doing their job. Is there something I am not understanding about this whole thing?

If you disagree with my above post, I love you anyway.  It is not for the sake of argument that I share my opinions.  I am open for opposing views if they are shared in a respectful and smart way.  All I ask is that you view my opinions with equal respect.

What I have found to be true is that if you are labeled a liberal or left, you do not agree with anything on the conservative or right side.  And visa-versa.  Am I right?  We no longer have true thoughts on our own...  we rely on our 'party' or affiliation to decide for us.

That's all.

Dear Diary,

It's Bun-Bun.  He runs from me.  I chase him.  I catch him.  He laughs at me.  He hides and squeaks and teases me.  I think he should sit still and let me chew his ears off.  He disagrees.  But at the end of the day, he's still my buddy.  Gracie.

  1. Gracie has the best idea about it I do think. I'm finding there are a few blogs I haven't been able to comment on recently with what they wrote without causing an uproar, which I don't want to do. I have such limited friends/family on Facebook, most are of the same thoughts I have on politics, etc., so not much uproar there. Just want to keep it simple and live and try to get along, know what I mean?

  2. Maybe you haven't experienced racism. If you had been a black man sitting in that car, perhaps you would have felt more afraid. And maybe by being simply more afraid you would have created a situation that could have ended badly. I am a moderate, independent voter, not a liberal at all, but I see clearly that anyone bringing a white supremacist into the White House as a close advisor, anyone who for five years kept harping about Obama's birthcertificate, anyone who saw Muslims dancing in the streets after 9/11 when there were none, is nothing but a stone racist. And that is totally unacceptable to me. The terrorists came from Saudi Arabia, the UAE, and those in Boston, San Bernadino, and Orlando were Americans, one with a wife from Pakistan. No one was from any of these countries. If it made sense I would be for it, but I only see bullying and giving ISIS a HUGE propaganda advantage. This has nothing to do with my caring for you, I do love you and your family and that bad little dog of yours. And I will say nothing more about this.

  3. Donald Trump was not my first choice... nor my second choice. I'm thinking my title for him was 'pig' for a time. But I got over it. That he is a white supremacist comes from fake news, from what I see. But then again... we are all subject to that fake news. So we must rely on the facts we know to be true. I am praying for my president every day. As far as racism I do not understand why we can be subject to Miss Black America, black school funding, etc. etc. and not feel that that is racism? But that's just the way I see it... maybe I am ignorant and just do not get it. *shrugging my shoulders*

  4. So SWEET! Does he have all his toys in a basket? I am kinda like you, I don't talk politics on Facebook. Friends can so often be split up by it. You can't please everyone, and likely I would make half my friends mad! With no politics involved, the world is a much more peaceful place.

  5. You about nailed it on the head regarding the political posts and not being able to change minds. I am not posting or commenting on them at this time because it does no good.
I am here to say that the media has a LOT to answer for on the day they stand in their eternal judgment. They sure didn't have my teacher who taught English/Journalism and gave us the impartiality speech - - - report just the facts - - and be able to give a source for those facts. Continued prayers are definitely necessary not only for our new administration but for people's hearts and attitudes to change - - - at least to the point they can have discussions instead of heated arguments and hatred.
So glad Gracie is getting good exercise and getting along with her friends!!!
PS My husband is not retired for a couple more months. He has not signed up for the insurance yet.

  6. I try not to get involved in anything political, but every once in a while ... I cannot help myself. Mostly I ignore fb posts unless there is food pictured.
Gracie is looking good, it's nice that Bun-Bun is keeping her fit!

  9. I totally agree with you!!! President Trump wasn't my first choice either. I would have voted for Cruise. But President Trump is our President and I pray for him every day to make things better for our country. I didn't go out and protest for 8 years because I disagreed with every single thing President Obama did while in office. I sucked it up and prayed for him also.... Hugs, LJ

  10. Just came upon your blog.

Thank you for a logical and gentle post, on the latest issue, facing our Beloved Country. It is for the safety of our citizens. Why scream and holler? (Because they were told to, by Soros and company, but that may be not PC, to be said)

    Anyway, thank you.

I would not touch FaceBook with a 10' poll. After hearing all the screaming, going on there.

Just blogging and IG for me. But that is just me. :-)

    Happy to have Net-met you.
