Dog-Psychology-Bit

Dear Diary,

Mom and Dad are complaining.  A lot.  It seems neither one of them are getting the sleep they need.  So how's that my problem?

They say I'm dead weight in the middle of the bed and that I won't move for nothing.

Mom tried to entice me to sleep in something called 'Gracie's bed' last night.  She even took her my favorite soft, warm electric blankie and arranged it ever-so-inviting on 'Gracie's bed' trying to lure me to stay there and sleep.

Mom crouched down on the floor beside me and rubbed my ears and belly till I was almost...  fast... asleep...zzz.

But then she was gone.
Ha!  I was having no parts of it and as soon as Mom got back up into our bed I pulled myself from my warm spot and jumped up on the bed with them.  They seemed annoyed.  Oh, and get this -  as I lay snuggled beside Dad in bed, Mom drops to the floor and curls up in 'Gracie's bed'.  I'm thinking she was trying that dog-psychology-bit on me but I was not about to fall for her plan...  I just rolled my eyes, stretched out and sighed.  Hey, if she wants to sleep in Gracie's bed... then good for her...  I planned on getting a good nights sleep right where I belong and that I did.

Gracie.

Mondays Mug: I Love Lucy

Mondays Mug: I Love Lucy

Who doesn't love Lucy?
Here we are in sunny Florida once again;
Universal Studios
the year, 2007

First an awesome stay in a romantic hotel
at St. Augustine Beach.
These little guys showed up for breakfast outside of our oceanfront room.

We visited the Titanic.  (Before it hit the iceberg and sank, of course)

I got my ticket,  (everyone received a ticket with a name of one of the passengers from the Titanic) and luckily I was one who survived in the end.  Whew....

Next to the Titanic was an upside down house.

 No autographs today please...

Here we found out how horror movies were made...

And it was pretty disgusting...

They demonstrated how animals were trained for TV and movies.

Okay,   Back to Lucy.  This is the model of The I Love Lucy set.

And this letter brought tears to my eyes.   A handwritten letter from Lucy to her mother on her birthday.
Which of us wouldn't want to give this gift to our mom?
(It's not too legible, but I typed the words below)

To Mother

What could I give you that would truly show how much I care?  I'm not nearly rich enough to buy the world and fill it with lilacs and snowmen and crackling fires and hundreds of sunny weekends with a hundred people waiting in line just to play scrabble and a "henna rinse" that never needs "retouching"!!  If I could I would build a special place like that and make everyone in it eternally youthful and call it Lucy Land for you to live in forever; and every day would be Christmas and every minute your birthday and you'd never have to ask for anything because it would be yours-always-from me which I'd have purchased with 'I Love You' Happy Birthday, Mom.

I guess even all of Lucy's money
 can't buy true happiness.

Have a Great Monday everyone.  And remember...only 4 more shopping days till Christmas.  Be safe.

Make Believe Houses

This is the first year I can remember that I didn't have a  big tree.

But the grandkids were so mesmerized by the train and little village last year, that we decided to make the village the focus this Christmas.  (thanks to summer yard sales)

Good news and bad news for Gracie.
The bad news:  I took away her window.

The good news:   at the mention of 'ears' 'bath' or 'bugs' she has a new and better place to hide... underneath the village.

The tree is fiber optic, and is a lot prettier than the photo allows it to be...

This Silent night waits on two rambunctious 3 year olds who will no doubt move some people around, have Santa slide down the winter carnival slide, and dream of being inside the train as it whistles and blows smoke from its stack coming around the bend.

I want Jake and Marissa to be aware of the Nativity, the dark starry night, and the bright star that told of Jesus' birth.

Christmas day will come to a close with misplaced pieces and a train craving rest.   Pretend people will settle into their make believe houses....

And Gracie will once again have her window.
