Graduation

 Download this mp3 from Beemp3.com

While so many good and positive things are happening for us right now, I have to pause today to remember someone who was once very dear in heart and is no longer with us.

Today Athena graduates from high school.

Athena was Gary's daughter (my stepdaughter) and for those of you who don't know - she was bribed, hypnotized and manipulated starting at age 13.  Reason:  To remove father from her life.

Mission:  Accomplished.

Along with the removal of her father though, was a removal of her self - and she became someone different.  The Athena we knew had disappeared.

How sad it must be to wear a cap and gown and hold your hand out for your diploma on one of the most important days of your life, knowing that the one person who loved and believed in you more than anyone
else in this world - is absent.

But then again...  she probably doesn't even remember.

  1. What a sad story and unfortunately one that will be duplicated all over the world.

Why parents manipulate their children, adding to the trauma of seeing their parents split up, I will never know or understand.

I do realise that in some instances a parent might not be a good parent and a complete break may be seen as beneficial, long term to the child and in some/?many cases will indeed be, nevertheless children are often used as a innocent pawn in a cruel game of ownership.

My thoughts are with your son.

  2. Hi Anna, Okay.. you've made my husband's day by saying he was my son, but I will never hear the end of this. LOL. He is actually my husband and it is my stepdaughter who was alienated. But thanks for the days chuckle.

  7. So sad and has happened in our family too. But things did turn around again and now all is well.

Maybe things will turn around here too and give this story a happy ending.

  8. Oh, this is just TOO sad, Bobbi. How his heart must break every day! But it is never too late, one day maybe...when she is older and has more of a mind of her own...maybe she will start to question things...there is always hope and prayer!!!

  9. Sorry Gary can't see the graduation. Graduation is the ending of your basic training, it doesn't make you smart................. She will get smart later on, when she comes out of the fog and realizes that she was used and bamboozled and wants to see her Dad. Then she will truly graduated into the reality of life.

    Much love,
    Sharon

  11. I like what Sharon said; I think she said very wise words! It is a shame though that a father was denied precious time with his daughter :(

  13. Bobbi, I do not pretend to know all the facts about kids and divorce etc. but I would be so surprised if Athena never connected Gary and you in the future. I don't know what kind of stuff her mother did to her but most kids when they 'grow up' a little will seek out the estranged parent and start communicating again. Don't forget, she has a lot of Gary in her make-up as well.....and that is pretty good stuff! Take care you two.
