Top 10

Top 10 things to do after the Christmas chaos has died down.

1.  Undo all that you did the day after Thanksgiving (to get ready for Christmas).  If you are anything like me, it will take you a complete 8-10 hour day to accomplish this.  And repeat these words:  "I'm getting too old for this!"

2.  Now, vacuum.  It's a mess.

3.  Watch some television and comment on how dull your house looks without all the bright lights and Christmas bling.

4. Create possible New Year resolutions in your mind.

5.  Finish up the cookies and curse the day you baked them and the extra pounds you added to your waistline.  Now, throw away the rest of that fudge...  it didn't turn out that good, anyway.  Time for a diet lifestyle change.

I'll take it from here...  (says Gracie)

6.  Vomit and poop all that anxiety and stress away (of the turning of your world upside down)...  do it on the floor and all through the house while everyone is asleep.  They will know better than to take away your peace next year.

7.  Stay alert!  Don't let them slide meds down your throat for nothing!!!  Bite them if you have to.

8.  Sleep

9.  Now that you've gotten their attention, hold out for the good stuff.  Chicken and rice are okay, but roast beef is better.  It's in the fridge.  Wait for it.  If you play your cards right, this will be offered to you along with the meds.  But be vigilant.  Spit the meds out!!  Let them suffer as you have.

10.  When you can no longer squeeze another runny, disgusting pity poop out - run and get a toy so they know you're feeling better.  They've suffered enough.  Maybe. Repeat next year if necessary.

Survival Mode

Many have taken to social media to list their favorite things about 2019.  What one word would you use to describe the passing of the year?

I think my word would be 'survival'.  That's kind of how I feel, like I survived it and now if I could just continue in survival mode 2020 would not look so scary.

This past year I've had to collect my thoughts and actions and regroup.  Ask myself, what's important in life?

I've given up on people who have given up on themselves.  I've drawn away (tried, anyway) from drama.  I've tried to take precaution when looking at the world around me and how others actions effect me. It's hard when those you care about choose a road that you are sure will lead to destruction.

I like the saying, "Let go and let God".  Easier said than done, but that's my goal.

Lately I'm lacking sleep, and my high blood pressure is returning after being good for so long.  It's kind of depressing.  Gracie has been night after night, unsettled and up and down and in and out of the house all night long.  Last night she was very sick with vomiting and diarrhea, so not only was I awake all night, but I was cleaning the floors as well.

I was successful in putting on my happy face for the Christmas chaos tho, but truly thankful to get it all cleaned up and put away when all was said and done.

A visit to the vet at the beginning of the week.  Gracie made friends with Emmitt, our vet's dog.  Who would have thought?  She's always hated black dogs.  Our vet says she is losing her hearing and we should get her a puppy.  Really?  A Puppy?  (Job security for him, maybe? LOL)

She might have picked up a bug of some kind at the vets office.  I'm hoping that's all it is.  I  would be so sad if it were more serious.  But she is 15 now, and when she gets sick like this, I think...  is this it?
*sigh*  I know, I need to stop thinking negative.

Hope you all had a good holiday and your 2020 started out awesome!

A Very Golden New Year

Happy 2012 Everyone!  How did you celebrate?

We decided to treat ourselves to a night of fine dining, dancing, and beautiful views @ Rocky Gap Resort.

But midnight is way too late for this old geezer to be up...  Do I look tired?  LOL

Morning breakfast overlooking the lake...  then back  to Gracie who celebrated at home alone just 10 minutes from where we stayed.

Dear Diary,
Just got back from Miss Mindy's...  wowsie!  What a party.   Now I have to act sad... cause I know mom and dad will be home soon and they think I've been here all night sulking.

Let's see if I can put on my sad face.

There.  I think that'll do it.  Then it'll be 'let's pamper Gracie day' because they left me alone all night.

Or at least they think they did...  BOL!  Gracie.

Dear Diary,

It's me again.   My plan did not work.  Instead of feeling sorry for me...  they left me again.  This is mom's poor excuse for not taking me along:
'oh, i'm sorry gracie... but you don't get along well with other dogs.'  and then she went to visit my cousin Ginger.

Then all I hear about is how Ginger is golden and Ginger is a sweetheart and Ginger is  beautiful...

Ginger, Ginger, Ginger.
 Gin-Gin can do no wrong!

Whatever!  I'm a lap dog too.  But instead of inviting my presence on her lap she's always like 'Gracie, do you have to sit here now?  or Gracie...  you're getting in my way..'  etcetera.  etcetera.  You get the picture.  I don't see where my cousin is all that cute or special.  But hey...  what do I know.  Gracie.

Something To Do With Change

Dear Diary,

I'm not sure what a New Years Resolution is.  But I think it has something to do with change.  So while everybody else is making their list...  I've decided to do my part...

1.  I will wait until after 7:30 am to start scratching my ears and licking my butt.

2.  I won't jump up on Rissie the minute she walks in the door.

3.  I will not jump in Mom's chair as soon as she gets up to go to another room.  I'll jump in Dad's chair instead.

4.  Okay.  I won't jump in Dad's chair either.

5.  When it comes time to clean my ears, I'll sit passively and allow Mom to dump that wet stuff down my ears and massage them... and I won't get up and go crazy, rubbing them all over the carpet and pillows.

6. Barking at passersby is out of the question.  I will pretend there is no one outside of my window walking down the street.  I will convince myself that it is a figment of my imagination.

7.  I will sleep in Gracie's bed at night.

8.  I will stay away from all bugs.

9.  I will not chew up any of Rissie's toys.

10.  I will not beg for chocolate.  I know it's off limits.

In Return, I am asking that Mom and Dad do a little changing of their own.

I mean, a dog like me deserves a little respect.  Don't you agree?

Gracie.

Happy New Year Everyone!

May 2011 be Blessed beyond Measure!!
