Smile! You're famous!

Anvil is not at all impressed with his recent rise to fame.  What fame, you ask?   He is being featured for this quarter in OFF I-68 Visitor's Guide.  He is not impressed.

But Gary and I are super excited.  We got free advertising!  And we love the attention Anvil is getting AND and our business!  The article was very nicely written.  Who wouldn't want to meet this big ol' beautiful gorilla?

Gracie spent the evening at the spa.  She is smelling wonderful and looks beautiful!  Her groomers suggested I get a second opinion on the lumps on her rump.  So I will be calling the vet tomorrow.

This morning...  before her spa day

Pretty Sad

Saturday before leaving the house I checked on my baby birds.  You know.  The ones outside of my office window that we saved by plugging up the leaky rain spout so they would not drown.  The babies were gone!  They were not ready.  It was not good news.  As I wondered what could have happened to them, I found one lying dead on the porch floor beside the door to my office.  The other one was nowhere to be found.  I had a sick feeling in my stomach and almost cried.  I hate not being able to save the little babies.

You do what you can do...  and leave the rest to God.  And what is to be will be.

A couple of weeks ago a lady stopped by my office, quite impressed with Anvil our front yard ape.  So much so that she wants to include him in her publication of Off-168, a magazine featuring local tourism information.  The magazine is available in all State of Maryland Welcome Centers.  It's published 5 times a year according to the seasons.  She features animals a lot and she wants to do a story on Anvil, though he's not real.

Today she stopped again and informed us that she has decided to break her 'tradition' of only featuring live animals on the front cover.  Yes!  Anvil has been chosen to be the first 'unreal' front cover animal on her publication.  She wants him dressed patriotic and so   tonight we went out to find some accessories that will make Anvil's claim to fame stand out and send people to National Highway in search of the big gorilla.  Stay turned!

Dear Diary,

Yesterday was Dad's birthday.  It rained.  Mom and dad felt sorry for me because I kept looking depressed (lack of walks makes me that way).  And so they took me in the Buick.  First to the pet store where I smelled pig ears and chew bones and lunged at a couple strange looking humans.  Then it was on to Tractor Supply.  More good smells.  I'm pretty sure you're allowed to pee on the floor there, so I'm not sure why mom made such a big deal about it and a person I did not know showed up with towels to wipe it up.  Guess it's not okay after all.  Well, when we got home mom and dad left right away to go eat at Wasabi.   Without me.  I pooped on the floor while they were gone.  My bad.  Gracie.

Today In A Word: Chaotic

Yesterday the Bug Boys were here.  They drilled holes all around our house, then this morning came back and finished their task of 'termite prevention'.

This morning Summer was here to hang out with me while her mommy attended Field Day at school with Rissi.

It was hot.  So I decided I would try out my new snow cone machine.

Disaster.

I ended up transferring the ice to my Ninja instead.  Snow Cone machine =JUNK.  Ninja = AWESOME

Every time I looked out a window, I was face to face with one of the Bug Boys....

Though all the blinds and drapes were closed (Mad Dog prevention) Gracie found it amusing to tear through the house at breakneck speed barking non stop for 3 consecutive hours, sniffing under doors, and listening in between barks for any sign of strange talk from outside,  until the Bug Boys were gone.

Meanwhile, I tried to amuse the little one with Sponge Bob Squarepants and snow cones.

Gary was next door in the office doing a hearing test, so    another of my morning tasks was to answer the phone and watch the camera/monitor so I would know to run next door if I would see a car pull up to the office so I could take care of whoever it was without interrupting the hearing test.

When someone came I would scoop up the little one, run to the door with Gracie lunging at my heels to get out and get at those Bug Boys, shoo her back inside, dodge the Bug Boys who were working around the house, and...  well... you get the picture.

Chaos finally ended, and the Bug Boys wrapped things up and were on their way.  Gracie fell asleep.

The girls met Anvil and enjoyed picking flowers.

And another quiet chaotic spring day was behind me.

We Got A Gorilla

A little Gorilla trivia:

On May 9, 2014 a furniture store in Quakertown, PA received a giant 8 1/2 foot gorilla in with their shipments.

They had not ordered a gorilla.

They did not know what to do with him!  So they sat him outside of the store.

The very next day, Gary and I saw him standing in front of the store and we fell in love with him.  Well, Gary more than me,  But anyway....  When we returned home we began to make plans.

Meanwhile.... back at the furniture store...

Big wig inspectors just happened to be making their rounds and workers had to hide the gorilla.  He wasn't supposed to be there!!  The store does not carry items that big!

Today:  Gary received 2 things:

1) His very first pension check from Bethlehem Steel where he worked for 29 years.
(He could retire, though he still stays semi-active in our business.)

2) Anvil, the gorilla, who will be  All About Hearing's mascot.

His four hour ride here was not without a little action...

One girl motioned for the guys to pull the trailer off to the side of the road...  then she proceeded to jump up into the gorillas lap to get a picture.

A tire blew on the trailer...

And many gawkers laughed and pointed at the 8 foot ape riding down the road....

But he's home now.  A little angry, but he'll get over it.

He is keeping an eye on things.

Gracie:  she will bark and lunge and go crazy over a tiny piece of paper in our yard.  But an 8 foot gorilla??  She acts like she has known him all her life.  Try as I may, I will never understand my dog.
