My childhood memories of The Castle
are of swing sets and green grass,
tall stone walls,
a haunted room upstairs where
an image of a man (ghost)
could be seen every evening at dusk,
(I saw it, but wasn't convinced)
and the angelic and colorful ceiling
above my Aunt Ollie's living room
that reminded me of a
beautifully decorated birthday cake.
The Castle has changed hands a number of times since Aunt Ollie owned it, and Aunt Ollie has since passed away.
But the memories... oh the memories
I have of that place!!

What a beautiful place!
ReplyDeleteGinny, I would say I was in my thirties... so around 25 yrs ago when I last visited Aunt Ollie there at the Castle. She was my Dad's sister, and she was so much fun to be around so even when she moved we always had tons of fun visiting with her. I will say that she mellowed with age though, since many of my teenage memories were of doing ironing and cleaning for her at the Castle, and she was a real slave-driver... LOL>
