Monday's Mug: The Castle

Monday's Mug

My childhood memories of The Castle
are of swing sets and green grass,
tall stone walls,
a haunted room upstairs where
an image of a man (ghost)
could be seen every evening at dusk,
(I saw it, but wasn't convinced)
and the angelic and colorful ceiling
above my Aunt Ollie's living room
that reminded me of a
beautifully decorated birthday cake.

The Castle has changed hands a number of times since Aunt Ollie owned it, and Aunt Ollie has since passed away.

But the memories...  oh the memories
 I have of that place!!

  4. What a story! Everyone should have memories of some mystical place like this from their childhood! This place is truly beautiful, so are the grounds! How old were you the last time you visited with your aunt here?

  5. WOW! That is gorgeous Bobbi! What a place with all that history. Thanks so much for sharing.

  6. Ginny, I would say I was in my thirties... so around 25 yrs ago when I last visited Aunt Ollie there at the Castle. She was my Dad's sister, and she was so much fun to be around so even when she moved we always had tons of fun visiting with her. I will say that she mellowed with age though, since many of my teenage memories were of doing ironing and cleaning for her at the Castle, and she was a real slave-driver... LOL>

  7. that is a beautiful place! I would imagine it would be so relaxful and restful to stay there as a B&B! oh the walks around it, exploring and seeing all! just gorgeous!! how neat it was part of your family history at one time!

  8. This is remarkable and so exciting to see. You must have been in a world of imagination and real fun as a child when you visited. So envious. That's what Daddy Ron wanted you to know Bobbi!
