CASTLE ESTATE SALE ~ A Monkey Table?

About a year-and-a-half ago I did a post on The Castle.  If you didn't see it, or don't remember it..  check it out!

Today we learned that the Castle has been sold.  We attended the estate sale there this morning.

When I walk onto the Castle grounds, I become a little girl again...  walking hand in hand with my dad...  excited to be visiting my aunt who owned The Castle back then.  I'm studying the angelic ceiling with the puffs of clouds all around, and another ceiling which reminds me of a decorated birthday cake.  I'm being patient while Dad visits with his sister...  and I have no cares.  I dream of queens and kings and princesses and the mystery that stays hidden beyond the old wooden staircase.

Okay...  back to the estate sale...

We asked the woman (the queen) who was having the sale, "Have you ever come across the ghost that lives here?"

"I've lived here 10 years and never saw one single ghost," she said.

Gary thinks that maybe she was a ghost...  *insert horrified, scared face here!*

The one thing I found that I couldn't live without was this picture that hung on the wall.

Unfortunately, it was not for sale.  I guess I can live without it after all.  *Insert frown here*

There were knights and swords and antiques of all kinds...

The 'monkey table' below was one thing Gary was drawn to.  Fortunate for him, this eyesore was for sale and it was only twenty bucks.

Monkey table is getting a good washing...  (minus the glass top)
After the sale we went to a movie.

It was a good day.  A beautiful summer day!  And speaking of summer, The day is not complete without a quick stop to love on the grandkids a bit...

Dear Diary,

Laundry day is my favorite day.  There's nothing like getting lost in a pile of warm clothes, fresh out of the dryer.  Gracie.

  1. Dear Gracie,

We like to help Mom by rolling around on the clean laundry. We know she doesn't want to wear clothes that don't have our soft fur on them.

    Love,
    Janie

  2. What a neat castle! there is something about the word castle that brings out the little kid in me too..... I, too, love that picture! My Mom has a very large print of it hanging in her bedroom over her bed.... and I love to study it and imagine who the dancers are! Very cool!

    Big hugs!

  3. That's SOME place, whew! But no ghost? Such a shame!

Monkey table... where are you going to put that?

Gracie, I like nice warm laundry too, specially if it's a blanket straight out of the dryer!

  4. "Gracie Owns Me" has been included in the A Sunday Drive for this week. I hope this helps to point even more new visitors in your direction.

  5. That sure looks like a very interesting place! What a lot of fun you must have had there!
Gracie, I just may have to try that myself! Mom puts all the clean clothes on her bed before she puts them away. Sounds like fun sometime when I am looking for something new to do!
    Lovies, Miss Mindy and Mom

  7. LOVE the castle. Estate sales are so much fun. Not sure about that monkey table, though. LOL Interesting, for sure. Sweet sweet Summer. Such a dollbaby. "Gracie you are right about snuggling in the laundry. But you know the best part? You did not have to wash and dry the stuff, yourself. ENJOY."

  8. Hi Bobbi and Gracie, Loved seeing the castle and will have to check out your previous post on it. I too love estate sales but hardly ever find anything I can afford-especially since I love antiques.
    Have a great week.

  12. That pictures of Gary and Summer speaks of healing to me. What a great castle to visit as a little girl. And Gracie, Samson says hello back to you and sends his usual xoxo. He hopes you didn't read his post when he was all wet. He didn't like that picture of himself at all. So vain!
