The Thanksgiving Day Blues

Nothing fancy at our house.

Just paper tablecloths and yard sale decor.

A table set for the kiddies.
Well...  for just one kid in the end...

After a call from #1 son at the last minute saying they aren't coming but they're going to the fiancĂ©'s parents instead.

Honestly...
the only real respect I get anymore is from my dog...

...and that's only if I don't read her diary and find out what she's really thinking.

Hope you all had a great day of Thanksgiving.

  2. Thanks, Gracie, for not commenting in your diary on this post. Let Mom have her moment, please - she needs to think she's the "top dog", for at least a little while.

  11. So sorry, he should not have called at the last minute!! But I find that our grown kids do almost everything at the last minute! Even asking us to babysit. I love your mushroom canisters. So how many? Four, or more? Look at it this way, you will have so much more leftovers!!!

  13. Our daughter and her family is always here for Thanksgiving and Christmas - well, they only live 1 1/2 miles from us. And our SIL's family lives fairly close too. Our son only makes it every other Thanksgiving or Christmas because you have to share, you know. That's the tough part so I know where you're coming from.

I hope Gracie had a good Thanksgiving with maybe a nibble or two of turkey. Our little 4-legged guys were banished to our 5th wheel until most of our human guests left. It was easier on everyone - dogs and people. I can only imagine what Elliott, Smoke and Dani would say if they each had a diary!

  16. Cute picture of you and Gracie, Bobbi! Sorry son didn't join you for Thanksgiving, it might have been nice if he said something beforehand?? I do think it is so hard once they grow up and they get a girlfriend/boyfriend, engaged, married, etc. Trying to sort out where to spend the holidays is tough. Yet notifying you a big sooner would have been a good thing!

  17. Hey Bobbi! The precious and dear friends we spent Thanksgiving with had something similiar happen....there were still around 25 of us there, but when the 91 year old sweet little GrandMother didn't get to see her her son and grandchildren after waiting and waiting and waiting..... well, you get the picture! But at least they were supposed to show up the next day... they just neglected to inform the family! And i like your yard sale things! they look cozy!

I love the pic of you and Gracie! It's one of my faves so far.....
    Hugs,
    Jenni
