Am I crazy? I look at Gracie's new toy lying on the floor where she left it the other night when she was sick (trying to get me understand by prancing around with it in her mouth)
and I'm letting it lay there because....????
Her place on the sofa is just as she left it;
...her pillows still remembering her soft warm face resting on them.
I stopped by on my way to work this morning to spend some time with her before her surgery today.
She was ecstatic to see me! She cried and whimpered... then started looking for her Daddy.
I think she believed she was going home.
So I explained to her that she needed to stay and that she was going to have surgery so that she would be all better.
As we went our separate ways, I could hear her nails slide across the floor as the worker pulled her in the opposite direction of where she
wanted to go> HOME WiTH ME
AFTERNOON UPDATE:
Gracie is out of surgery & doing well. There were 15 smaller stones and 2 larger ones, obviously the culprits in the blockage. Antibiotics were given to her intravenously since she was not cooperating otherwise. That's my Gracie.
Oh poor little Gracie! Heres wishing you a very speedy recovery and going home soon! Much love, Billy and Mom
ReplyDeleteI hope they are going to get the stones analyzed and figure out a way to avoid this being an annual thing! I'm sure she will go bananas when she finally gets to go home! Give her an extra hug for me!
ReplyDeleteSo happy to hear she is out of surgery and those nasty stones gone!... lots of love and kisses to her... can you bring her home tonight I hope?... xoxo Julie Marie and Tessy
ReplyDeleteI'm so happy she's doing well. Yay for getting those darn stones out of there. When can she go home? What a sweet girl!
ReplyDeleteI'm hoping that she can come home tomorrow. Yes, Sharon... they did send the stones to have them analyzed. She's going to be on a pretty strict diet and she's not going to like it :(
ReplyDeleteOh poor Gracie! I'm sure you'll be glad to get home and recover quickly from those bad stones!
ReplyDeleteDrools and licks,
Minnie and Mack
You know most Swedes are pretty stoic -- not me, I'm sitting here crying right now. I can imagine how she felt both when you came and when you left her. But I'm so glad surgery is over and that they got so many stones out of her. That's amazing and I guess it shows that surgery was the way to go. I hope she recovers well and can get home soon. Samson sends hugs and kisses.--Inger
ReplyDeleteShe is going to be OK? That is seriously good news, YAY!!!!! When can she come home?
ReplyDeleteAwww, I'm so glad she is out of surgery and doing well...prayers are being answered...take good care!
ReplyDeleteI have been away from the computer today but I am relieved to hear Gracie is out of surgery and that she might get to come home tomorrow. We pray that she will feel better very soon.
ReplyDeleteBobbi, having been in your shoes, I know that feeling you had at leaving your precious Gracie...But I'm so glad to read that she's doing well! I've been thinking of you both today and please know that I'm sending healing thoughts for her and keeping you both in my prayers!!
ReplyDeleteWhew! Glad that's over and we hope Gracie gets her strength back ASAP! Hang in there Bobbi, she'll be back to normal in no time.
ReplyDeleteNo fun for our babies!!! Ragsy had 4 bladder stones when he was almost 2 years old. (Gracie had so many, wow). He has been on a UD diet ever since and hasnt had any since. It is hard to know what to give him for treats because of his strict diet. He loves baby carrots and apple slices and I am trying to find a recipe for biscuits that he can eat. Love to ya Gracie, you are going to feel a lot better and Mom and Dad.
ReplyDeleteGlad to hear she is doing well after the surgery.
ReplyDelete17 stones!!! Poor baby, no wonder she was so sick!! Do they know why a dog gets so many? I'm so glad she's alright now, will she spend the night at the vet's?
ReplyDeleteI am so glad they got those nasty stones out of there.... she is gonna feel sooo much better!
ReplyDeleteand I know what you mean about those toys and the dog bed looking so lonely.... when Jazz has been in the hospital overnight, it really bothered me, too.
He has been on a prescription diet for 8 years now, and it is sooo hard not to give him snacks and treats and scraps, especially when he begs, but we just have to remind ourselves that we want him to stay well with no pain....
I have been praying for Gracie, please keep us posted and let us know when she gets to go home!
Hugs,
Jenni

So glad to hears dat Gracie is doin' well after her's surgery. Gotta be feelin' good since she won't cooperate wit da antibiotics. And....you is like my Mom...You leave tings exactly like she left em so's she can come home and picks up right where she left off and the few days in between can jus' be forgotten.
ReplyDeleteI'm just catching up with my blog reading today and have read your posts about Gracie which brought tears to my eyes and prayers for her. I'm so glad her surgery is over and I pray for her fast healing.
