Emergency Visit to The Animal Hospital

Hi Everyone.

It's 3:30 AM and I just got back from an emergency visit to the animal hospital.  Gracie has bladder stones and a blockage.

Please pray for her, that she does okay with the procedures that she will have to go through and for  possible surgery.

I have a choice to make. The vet is going to try to push the stone that is causing the blockage back up through the urethra and into the bladder, however he feels that he should then do surgery to remove the stones so this doesn't happen again weeks from now.  OR if it is a certain kind of stone, a special diet might work... but this is not as effective.

Surgery?  Or not?  I want what's best for Gracie.

I miss my girl already.

  7. Is she in lots of pain? I think that either way, she might end up having surgery anyway. Whether it comes back in a few weeks or if the diet/meds don't work. And it also depends on how big the stones are, how many there are. Oh poor Gracie... I hope she gets well soon! Hang in there, Momma!

  8. Our prayers are being said for little Gracie and you too Bobbi... if it were me, I would try the path of least resistance first and try the diet... it just might work, and she may be able to avoid surgery... our vet always starts with the least invasive... love to you both, xoxo Julie Marie and Tessy

  12. I would opt for the surgery Bobbi. That way there probably wouldn't be a reoccurance.
Good luck with this and thanks for comment on Sophie's FB re Dad......he is much improved.

  14. Pray for discernment, Bobbi!!! And so will I as soon as I check out of your blog. I have never heard of bladders stones, only kidney stones, do they know how this happened? Maybe a special diet now...how common is this in dogs? Why don't you Google it and look for the best treatment? That is something I would definately do. How long to you have to decide? And if he pushes the stone back into the bladder, then what? Will it just stay there and could block it again?

  15. Dear Bobbi, I know how terribly worried you must be. I think I would opt for surgery too. They are so good at things like that these days. I will keep Gracie in my prayers. Angel, Soldier and Pippi Birdie say they will be thinking of her and Samson is besides himself with worry. He sends SPECIAL GREETINGS AND GET WELL WISHES TO HIS GRACIE. LOTS OF LOVE FROM YOUR SAMSON XOXOXOXO

  16. I am sure Gracie is not too thrilled with her time away from you all either! Our animals have all been on Hill's Science Diet for years because we had a cat who had bladder/infection/stone problems. The only downside to Hill's is that the animals live a LOT LONGER!

  17. Akc, poor lambiekins... I can't stand it! I am praying for her... and for you all too...

hang in there, precious friend.... I learned yet again during Jazz's seizures a couple of months ago, that God does CARE about our pets.... if they matter to us, then they are important to Him.... and He created them, and He can heal them and make them better...

    sending love and prayers,
    Jenni

  19. oh poor Gracie! I know what you are going through! She's young, go for the surgery and then see what type of special diet she needs to be on; I hear stones are just awful with humans, can't imagine them with dogs who can't grasp what is going on!
