Hi Everyone.
It's 3:30 AM and I just got back from an emergency visit to the animal hospital. Gracie has bladder stones and a blockage.
Please pray for her, that she does okay with the procedures that she will have to go through and for possible surgery.
I have a choice to make. The vet is going to try to push the stone that is causing the blockage back up through the urethra and into the bladder, however he feels that he should then do surgery to remove the stones so this doesn't happen again weeks from now. OR if it is a certain kind of stone, a special diet might work... but this is not as effective.
Surgery? Or not? I want what's best for Gracie.
I miss my girl already.
Oh Bobbi, I'm so, so sorry to read this--Gracie will certainly be in my thoughts and prayers that she'll be okay---Please let us know!!!!
ReplyDeleteOur best to Gracie! Praying right now, Gloria and Billy
ReplyDeleteMy thoughts and prayers are with you and the Vet to have wisdom and make the best choice for Gracie. Update us as you have the opportunity. Love ya both.
ReplyDeleteAll 44 of our pack paws are crossed and we are all sending good vibes and lots of sunshine from Florida. Gracie, get well quick and get back home soon. You are missed!
ReplyDeletePoor Gracie! Hope she's back home and well in no time!
ReplyDeleteWoof! Woof! Sending you Golden Thoughts and Good Vibes. Lots of Golden Woofs, Sugar
ReplyDeleteIs she in lots of pain? I think that either way, she might end up having surgery anyway. Whether it comes back in a few weeks or if the diet/meds don't work. And it also depends on how big the stones are, how many there are. Oh poor Gracie... I hope she gets well soon! Hang in there, Momma!
ReplyDeleteOur prayers are being said for little Gracie and you too Bobbi... if it were me, I would try the path of least resistance first and try the diet... it just might work, and she may be able to avoid surgery... our vet always starts with the least invasive... love to you both, xoxo Julie Marie and Tessy
ReplyDeletePraying for you and Gracie. I hope she feels better soon. Poor little girl. You can be sure that she knows you are waiting for her no matter what procedure they do. Praying everything will go perfectly well.
ReplyDeleteAw poor Gracie! We're sending prayers and happy thoughts from NC! XOXOX
ReplyDeleteMy paws are crossed for Gracie and she will be in my prayers! Please send her some Cairn cuddles for me. Thanks, Oz
ReplyDeleteI would opt for the surgery Bobbi. That way there probably wouldn't be a reoccurance.
ReplyDeleteGood luck with this and thanks for comment on Sophie's FB re Dad......he is much improved.
OMG Bless her heart!!! You have my prayers!!!
ReplyDeletexx, Fern
Pray for discernment, Bobbi!!! And so will I as soon as I check out of your blog. I have never heard of bladders stones, only kidney stones, do they know how this happened? Maybe a special diet now...how common is this in dogs? Why don't you Google it and look for the best treatment? That is something I would definately do. How long to you have to decide? And if he pushes the stone back into the bladder, then what? Will it just stay there and could block it again?
ReplyDeleteDear Bobbi, I know how terribly worried you must be. I think I would opt for surgery too. They are so good at things like that these days. I will keep Gracie in my prayers. Angel, Soldier and Pippi Birdie say they will be thinking of her and Samson is besides himself with worry. He sends SPECIAL GREETINGS AND GET WELL WISHES TO HIS GRACIE. LOTS OF LOVE FROM YOUR SAMSON XOXOXOXO
ReplyDeleteI am sure Gracie is not too thrilled with her time away from you all either! Our animals have all been on Hill's Science Diet for years because we had a cat who had bladder/infection/stone problems. The only downside to Hill's is that the animals live a LOT LONGER!
ReplyDeleteAkc, poor lambiekins... I can't stand it! I am praying for her... and for you all too...
ReplyDeletehang in there, precious friend.... I learned yet again during Jazz's seizures a couple of months ago, that God does CARE about our pets.... if they matter to us, then they are important to Him.... and He created them, and He can heal them and make them better...
sending love and prayers,
Jenni
That was supposed to say soemthing like "aww... poor lambiekins" but I CANNOT spell for beans tonight. sorry!
ReplyDeleteoh poor Gracie! I know what you are going through! She's young, go for the surgery and then see what type of special diet she needs to be on; I hear stones are just awful with humans, can't imagine them with dogs who can't grasp what is going on!

H... I found your comment on Inger's post and I was taken with your concern for a parakeet so I came to visit and become a follower. I see you are an animal lover and I'm sorry that your Gracie is having a rough time now.
