Delaware Shipyard Shops

We had time to kill before the show on Saturday, so we visited  Delaware's Shipyard Shops along the river.  Most of the shops were either empty or closed.

I tried to find information online about the place but this is all I could come up with:

Walk the gorgeous brick and board walkways at one of Delaware's beautiful riverfront shopping areas—Shipyard Shops in Wilmington, Delaware. The outlet shops at Shipyard Shops offer tax-free shopping for even more savings for you! You'll love the beautiful surroundings as you shop at about 15 outlets like Big Dogs, Blair Catalog Outlet, BonWorth, Coldwater Creek Incredible Outlet, Dress Barn/Dress Barn Woman, Factory Brand Shoes, L'eggs/Hanes/Bali/Playtex, L.L. Bean Factory Store, Lillian Vernon, Nautica, Totes/Isotoner/Sunglass World. You can also get a delicious bite to eat at Harry's Seafood, Iron Hill Brewery or The Riverfront Market. If you walk the entire walkway around the shops and riverwalk you can get a bit over a mile's worth of exercise! When you need a shopping break, take a river taxi ride around Wilmington before finishing off your shopping day! What a treat!

Which didn't explain the unique statues that we encountered during our walk around the place.

This one was the most unusual of all. (below) From what I gather, it was put together by a
classroom of children???
Check out all of the miscellaneous stuff that
 defines this guy!

Dentures???  Egad!

(Above) This one's my fave!

  Fancy seeing 'ear' here.

Dear Diary,

Something came up yesterday, and I wasn't able to get my rabies shot.  Mom said I dodged the bullet.
What's a bullet?  The only thing I know how to dodge are balls.  Should I be happy or sad about this?
She said something about rescheduling.  Then she said some words that made my head twist and turn> vet. go. buick.
Humans are confusing.  Gracie.

  1. I LOVE those statues!!! And that last one, all the different things in it! I guess the object is like the last word says, to FIND. Not quite sure about the dentures either. Maybe Dupont donated some of their old parts as well? That teacher is one talented and inventive person!!

  2. Hi Bobbi and Gracie, Wow what interesting statues-so unique, don't think I've ever seen any like them. As for Gracie having to get a shot well I sure hope that you give her one great reward-dog cookies etc. I'm finding that the older our Reggie gets the fewer shots he gets because he can't tolerate many.
    Have a wonderful week.

  3. I would love to have the very first one in my yard!!! lol Good for you Gracie! More cookies are on the way hehe.

  4. Really different statues!... I think I will pass on putting one of those in my yard!... Gracie, I love you!... xoxo Julie Marie

  5. Oh wowzers, those are incredible...and beautifuls...and very creative! I was wanting some flamingos in my yard but nows I change my mind...I want dinosaurs. Can you gets me a few please? I'll be furevers your furiend.

  7. Gosh,, all that art work is beatiful. We had some artwork like that a few years ago in the big city.. art work of cows.

  8. Those Dinosaurs are interesting.....How sad that all of the shops are closed.... that was probably a lot of jobs lost......

But at least the dinosaurs didn't become "extinct" hehe.

Gracie girl, you are so funny... Jazz's head turns this way and that way when he hears "Go" "Walking" or "Do you want to take a ride in the car and go see the doc - doc"
(For some reason he thinks that sounds like an adventure)

    Anyway, have a great evening!

  9. Gracie what a colorful and interesting post...those are some funky looking critters....
Make sure your vet gives you a sucker after you get your shot.
    Hugs Madi

  10. I love seeing all these photos of unique statues. Gracie, you are the cutest!

  11. Those statues are very neat! Especially the one with all the things on it.
