Practical Joke

Who likes playing pranks?  Does anyone get angry when they're the victim?

I love to laugh, and I find it fun to play pranks but sometimes not so fun to be on the other end.

About a year after we were married Gary had to be away for a few days so I cloned him and sat him in his chair.  On a scale of one to ten...  it was about a six.

A few years ago, Gary and I went out to the Texas Grill House for dinner with my son and his fiance.   It was a wintry night and I wore my warm down hooded  coat.  It was Jessica's birthday, and I was buying.
So the waiter brought me the check and we all got up from the booth to leave.  I took the check and was headed for the cash register in front of the store... and  that's when I heard it.  Gary's infamous battery operated FARTER.  I'd recognize that thing anywhere.  Embarrassed, I hurried ahead trying to get away from my juvenile husband and his embarrassing prank.  Jack, Jessica and Gary were all laughing hysterically and lagging behind... and that's when I realized...  the loud embarrassing farts were coming from me!  He wouldn't let up.  It was one long disgusting fart after another.  The restaurant was thick with customers that night...  and I had grown an audience.  I knew then that the unwanted apparatus must be planted somewhere on me... so I started to shed my layers.  Off came my scarf and I threw it into the air like a stripper in a nightclub.... when the farting continued to follow me, I then yanked my coat off and threw it to the floor as I ran to the front and out the door, still carrying the check.  I was laughing so hard and trying  to be angry at the same time.  "You have to come back in and pay for the dinner..." Gary said when he came out onto the small enclosed porch and sat beside me.  "No way!" I said.  I was still trying to be angry but I couldn't stop laughing.  Finally I went in and paid.  All eyes were on me...  but I just focused on paying the check and getting out of there.

Moral of the story:  If you live with a jokester... always check your clothing carefully and never, never, never where a hooded coat to a restaurant.

I hate to admit it.  And I will kill the hub if it ever happens again.  But it was a ten.

So what's the funniest practical joke you've ever played on someone?

  2. I have always been a prankster, mostly small stuff though, the funniest one to me, was when I was a teenager. My Dad had these "growdy" feet and he would take his socks off and take a nap. I told him to put his socks on, what if the neighbors came by for a visit? He said he wasn't going to sleep and he would have plenty of time to put his socks on if somebody came. I waited till he was snoring, went out the back door and ran to the front door and knocked loudly. I was watching in the window, the look on his face and him trying to put his socks on - Priceless!

A farter? Hmmm, wonder where a person could get one of those.......

  3. This is a scream! Phil is reading it right now, because you know how men just love fart jokes. When Phil and his brother were kids, one night his brother (sick with a cold) laid down on the bed to put his nose drops in. But Phil was hiding under the bed. And every time he tried to put the drops in, Phil would push the mattress up from underneath. It scared him to death, and also made his nose drops run out!

  4. This is the cats meow Bobbi!! I will be laughing about this off and on all day, and can't wait to tell hubby about this one, as he is the practical joker in our family, on second thought maybe I shouldn't tell him as I wouldn't want to give him any ideas. LOL Have a wonderful un filled day.

  6. Funny but so embarrassing too. As a nurse, my coworkers and I played pranks on the rookie newbie nurses. It usually involved something along the line of a sheet-covered dead patient (dummy) coming back to life. You can just imagine how that played out. Lots of screaming and laughing.

  9. Hi Bobbie!

What a hilarious story! Sounds like something my husband would do to me... :0) I don't play too many practical jokes, most of my jokes are well intended things that just happen to turn into practical jokes! Anyway, so fun to read about yours!

Thank you for your sweet comment on my blog, it's always so nice to meet a new friend!

    Blessings,

  10. ROTFLOL! I don't think of myself as liking "bathroom humor," but this is hysterical the way you tell it. I now realize it has been a long time since I pulled any pranks . . . hmmm.

P.S. Thanks for your kind words of support regarding my son. I truly appreciate it.

  11. Hi Bobbi, Firstly, thank you for visiting me today and I'm glad I found you-I'll be following from now on. I love dogs and hope that our next one will be a miniature poodle or poodle mix-plus I loved your description of sleeping with a dog while having hot flashes.
For me, the best joke I ever played was on a boss while in banking. The staff-there were 5 of us-got together for April Fools day and I started by calling her that morning telling her I was sick with the flu. You get the idea, by 7:00 am all of us had called in. She was good natured and laughed it off but it was hysterical for us.
    Have a great weekend. Noreen

  15. I've needed a good laugh today and you've given it to me!! I love a good joke, and have 'pranked' people more times than I can count!! It's always good when people have a good sense of humor, and when they don't, it makes me even more determined to pull one over on them! :-))))

  18. Another great practical joke is to rubber band the sprayer handle on the kitchen sink. When they turn the sink on....GOTCHA..For some reason most people can't understand what's happening and don't know how to stop it..A video camera positioned just right could keep the memories forever...Good Luck...
