Make Believe Houses

This is the first year I can remember that I didn't have a  big tree.

But the grandkids were so mesmerized by the train and little village last year, that we decided to make the village the focus this Christmas.  (thanks to summer yard sales)

Good news and bad news for Gracie.
The bad news:  I took away her window.

The good news:   at the mention of 'ears' 'bath' or 'bugs' she has a new and better place to hide... underneath the village.

The tree is fiber optic, and is a lot prettier than the photo allows it to be...

This Silent night waits on two rambunctious 3 year olds who will no doubt move some people around, have Santa slide down the winter carnival slide, and dream of being inside the train as it whistles and blows smoke from its stack coming around the bend.

I want Jake and Marissa to be aware of the Nativity, the dark starry night, and the bright star that told of Jesus' birth.

Christmas day will come to a close with misplaced pieces and a train craving rest.   Pretend people will settle into their make believe houses....

And Gracie will once again have her window.

  1. Poor Gracie losing her window! The Christmas Village is very pretty and I know the grandchildren's eyes will sparkle when they see it. I can't wait for you to share pictures of all the festivities! Enjoy your day.

  2. What a lovely, and sensible Christmas extravaganza to mesmerize the children! Poor Gracie will just have to put up with it and the table does make for a great hiding place for her. Have a great day!

  3. How beautiful it all is, like a fairyland!! Isn't three the greatest age? They will be very lucky indeed. I think they will probably have to be dragged kicking and screaming from your house!!

  9. Your village and tree look so very nice! I know your "grands" will enjoy it all so much! And definitely highlighting Jesus is a very good thing indeed!! Poor Gracie! Its hard when their "routine" is disturbed with her losing her window. Like I mentioned before, Koda fell apart when we moved his crate to put the tree up last year. We learned a very expensive lesson last year (vet visit due to stomach upset) to not change his routine this year so we moved the love seat instead!

Regardless, I'm sure you will have all have a wonderful Christmas!
