Happy

So are we all ready for spring next month?

In October, when clocks are turned back I tend to clam up inside.  My feelings at the time are: for the next five months I need to find a happy place.  I need to hang on to the side of the ship so if the storms toss it around a bit I will stay put.

The days get short and the night gets long.  The gray skies seem never-ending.  Still, I look for happy.  I find it in the faces of my grandchildren.  Movies and popcorn.  New TV series where we watch three and four episodes a night.  A glass of wine with dinner.  Scented candles.  Halloween fun.  Thanksgiving gatherings.  Christmas joy.

And then, a new year rolls around.  January is cold and heartless, but the end is now in sight.

Which brings me to where we are now.  The first day of February.  The promise of spring and longer days.  Tomorrow that pesky old groundhog will say yay or nay for 6 more weeks of winter.  But in my heart, I hear the song of robins in the not so distant days ahead.  And I will likely not have to look far to find my happy.  It will be there when I open the blinds in the morning.

And Gracie, you too will be happy... right?

Yea.  Well, about that happy.  If you promise me a walk every day and double my treats... then I will be happy.  Whadda ya think?

I used to have trouble with the 'dark' thing. I bought a S.A.D. light, slept better, and had less winter depression. This year, I didn't need the light, I think my grow light and tomato made the difference. I also took the curtain completely off my southern window.

I'm not as anxious for spring. I do see that the new foliage of my surprise lilies is already about 6" out of the ground! Spring will be here before we know it, along with the bugs, frogs, and pollen. :-)

Yes, the end is in sight now! And Gracie will smell it before anyone does! Awesome walks ahead, Gracie!!

I'm looking forward to more light in the mornings and evenings :) I get so excited that now there is light enough in the sky up until 6 p.m. so I'm not working in the dark any more. Its the little things that keep us happy I do believe!

I try... Very hard.... To enjoy each month.... As I am living it. Try! :-)

But along in this time of the year, when winter starts to get very long..... It hasn't happened yet..... But when it does..... I just can't stand any more cold/grayness/etc..... And I put on Hawaiian music and post pics of islands in the sun..... lovely deserted beaches.... Etc.

Hasn't happened yet.

But it probably will.

:-)

Lots of gentle hugs,
