Memorial Day

I am back.  I've been on kind of a break I guess you could say. I had the worst cold I have ever had in my life!  It was worse than the flu I had 2X already this year.  This cold lasted about a week but I'm still wheezing and coughing a bit.

I am feeling better every day though.  Today was beautiful.   I visited my Mom and Dad's grave and took some flowers.  Then we attended the Memorial Day service at the cemetery.  It was a gorgeous day.

Yesterday, a yard sale.  I know... I know..    I said I'd never do it again, but I did.

Santa stopped by to buy some beanie babies.    so that's where he gets the toys for the little girls and boys... hmmm..

He gave Summer a beanie baby that he bought from us.  Yes, he is indeed the real Santa!

It was tiring to say the least...  but we got rid of a lot of stuff.  I am = de cluttering.  Big project but it's coming along.

Back to work tomorrow.  But I am cutting hours for summer and maybe indefinitely.  We'll see how it goes.   The office stays really busy, but mostly by appointment.  So I feel cutting hours won't hurt.  I will do it on a temporary basis but if it pans out okay, I will make it permanent.  It will just pull together appointments giving me more free time and less space in between.

So that's what's going on with me.

Just below the cemetery, my childhood home:

Thankful for those who served!  Including my Dad and two brothers.

Hope you all had a beautiful day.

  1. Hope the remnants of that cold leave you soon. Glad you had a nice holiday weekend. Cutting back on hours at the office will probably improve your quality of life. Hope it works out.

  2. You'll certainly enjoy the added family time if you're able to condense your work schedule; hope it works out for you.

Your photo of your childhood home sent me down memory lane. It looks so much like my grandmother's home in West Virginia where I spent every summer (from Ohio) until I turned 16 and started working. Thanks for the memories!

    Feel better soon!

  3. They can be a "pain" to put together but garage sales can be so profitable especially if one has a lot to declutter. I admire your efforts to declutter; it is definitely a passion of mine to promote it. Sorry about your sickness; hope you feel all better so very soon! Good if you can to cut back hours and enjoy life a bit more not working :)

  4. My heartfelt thanks to your father and brothers for their service. Glad you were able to visit your parents' grave. We are slowly trying to get rid of everything we don't need. What a job. God bless your week. xo

  5. Good that you were able to visit your parent's grave.

Glad that You are decluttering, but I remember you saying never again after the last yard sale... Again happened, hmm. Was it really worth it?

A little worried about that "mostly" part. Regular hours gives people confidence in your store. Appointment only doesn't sound like real service anymore. Just saying.

Sure glad somebody had good weather!

  6. We visit the cemetery to make sure it is tidy but my real tribute to my parents are in my yard. Gosh, I haven't had a yard sale for years, perhaps I should, maybe I could get rid of some stuff also. Thank you to your family for their service to our country! Enjoyed seeing a pic of your family home.

  8. What a beautiful day for a yard sale.
Yes, it is a lot of work, but it feels so good to purge, doesn't it?! And, I've never known anyone else who has had Santa in attendance. ;-)
