October Skies

We've been having a lot of rain and cooler temperatures here.  A few nights ago I took Gracie outside to pee.  In the dark of the night we ventured up to the city sidewalk so she could smell the boy pee on the light poles and I could see our  plaque that had been placed on the bench in front of our house.

I felt as though someone was standing there...  watching me... and I could see a shadow to my left, through the dim street light just feet from where we stood.  I pulled Gracie quickly towards me and we started for the house! Just then I saw that it was our big ear that was stalking me and not the serial killer that I had imagined.

The next day I went out and took some pictures.

Fall is here.
It says so on the calender and I feel it in the air.

Colors are fading.

Flowers are saying their goodbyes.

The sky is looking mysterious and sad.

The swing set sits abandoned, remembering laughter, and hoping for a few more play sessions before
turning in for the winter.

This year has been a busy one for us.  But now that the business is up and running, hopefully things will get 'normal' once again.

And we can relax, reflect, and rejuvenate!

What part of 'I am not ready to go inside yet'
do you not understand?

  2. I'm glad I'm not the only one that gets a little paranoid in the dark! :-)

But what great memories you have of the year--Can you believe that it's October--Christmas will be here before we know it...YIKES!!!

  3. I'm always afraid that the zombie apocalypse is upon me in the dark. I tell myself that dark is merely the absence of light.

  4. How funny! That's a nice bench. Your sky picture, if you cover everything and only look at the sky, it looks like water!!! Like the top of a swimming pool.

  5. It is getting a tad nippy. Pretty maple leaves, we have very few here the woods around here are basically oak, hickory and pine with a few whatevers. People do put the maples in their yards though.

Nice bench! Nice pee spot for Gracie!

  7. I thought for sure you were going to tell me a true Ghost Story. Whew! I'm easily spooked so I know how scarey that can be...Thank goodness for Gracie the Guard Dog. Did she even bark? LOL
A BIG EAR can be frightening in the dark!

The bench is a nice way to advertise and "give back" to the community. Well done.

  12. What a wonderful thing you did, to donate a bench. VERY NICE. It is funny how our imaginations get the better of us in the dark. I LOVE autumn but winter will be here before we know it. Gracie's expression is priceless. Have a good week.

  14. Hi there, Fall is definitely here in Colorado. I smiled when I read of your concern being outside & wondering whether someone was there-cause that's exactly how I would have reacted. Sorry Gracie but us moms always worry.
    Have a great week.

  16. LOL about the ear being your "stalker"! I carry a stick when I go outside with Koda after dark because of the "wildlife" in the neighborhood; want to be prepared for anything we might seen invading our backyard.

This year flew by; I can't believe we are in October already! It has been a busy one for you guys for sure! But I think you made the right choice to branch out with your own business!

  17. Freddy does that same thing! He pulls back on the leash and gives me that look whenever I think its time to go back in the house!
