Dishonesty

Welcome to the BEST WESTERN Braddock Motor Inn,
a full-service hotel where guests will find friendly customer service, an array of amenities and comfortable accommodations at an affordable price.

They have just one problem... dishonesty.

On Gary's birthday last year I purchased him a one year pool membership here.  They have a very nice heated pool and it is only minutes from our home.  It's therapeutic for Gary's Crohns.  It was $345 for the year.

In January, Gary went in to use his membership and was informed that all memberships were cancelled due to insurance issues. Okay.  These things happen.  So do we get a refund for the four months that we paid and weren't able to use it?

"You'll have to talk to the manager, she's out of town and won't be back till January 31."

So we waited.  Then I called.

"Do you know what you paid for your membership?" Robin, the manager asked.

"It was Three hundred and something..." I said.  "I really don't remember the exact amount...  and I'm not sure if I even have my receipt."  Telling her that was a mistake.  I guess she felt she could take advantage of me at that point.

"That was just for a six month membership..." Robin says.  "A full year membership is $650."

"But there's no way I'd pay that much for a year membership." I said.  "But I'm sure it was for a year though..."

"You must be wrong.  But I will check." Robin says. "I will call you tomorrow."

So now I was second guessing myself.  Had I paid over $300 for a 6 month membership?  I couldn't imagine doing that.  But maybe she was right?

So I wait.  And I wait.  A week passes.  I hear nothing.

Then Gary finds the Membership certificate in his glove compartment and I was right.

Now I'm a little hot under the collar.  I hate for people to be dishonest or to take advantage
of others.

Today we stopped by to pay them a visit.  Robin was not there so we talked to the front desk person. When I asked her if Robin checked on the membership she looked at the book and said "yes, she checked into it.. and Robin was correct and that I had only purchased a six month membership".

(She didn't know that I had found my receipt).

"That's funny... " I said as I pulled out my proof.  "This says I purchased a year's membership."

There was a lot of stuttering.

Different stories.

Different numbers.

So many lies -  That goes right through me.

Finally she made a photo copy to share with the manager tomorrow.

I would have been happy to get a portion of my money refunded.  However, since I was given such a hard time and told so many stories, I am insisting on a full refund.

  We'll see what happens.

What a yapper.  Yap, yap, yap.

That silly white puffy pooch wasn't about to scare me away.

'Go mind your own business', I said.

Anyway, I was looking for a good place to nest.

Spring's on it's way you know...

And when I do find a place, I hope they keep this yapper inside...

Can't be dealing with it...

Though she's fun to tease.

Okay, so this is not a good choice but...

It sure was fun getting
a rise out of the pooch.

Nah - nah - nah - nah - nah - nah!!!

Dear Diary,

It's hard to watch the house when intruders are not afraid of me.  I'm thinking I need to eat more and get bigger and scarier.    Now if I could just talk Mom into feeding me more instead of telling me I eat too much already.  Somethings gotta give.  Gracie.

  1. I am SO glad Gary found the receipt! Why do people feel they have to lie like that? You lie and then when people call you on it - you look plain old stupid! Take 'em to the people's court and go for the rest, for pain and suffering! Hey, they should have notified you!

That darling bunny is trying to get the best of Gracie! That's funny!

  4. Keep us posted!!!!! Why would Robin lie like that? I guess just too much trouble to give a refund. But think of this...why were memberships cancelled due to insurance issues? That is a drastic step, they must have been violating codes or something!! Or maybe they didn't pay their insurance on the pool. I would do some snooping and find out why all this happened in the first place. I will NEVER stay in any Best Western, maybe the whole chain is crooked, this is giving them a horrible reputation and I'm glad you are letting everyone know!!! WELL DONE, my friend!!!

  5. If you don't get all of your money back SOON, you should call an investigative reporter from your local newspaper. Gracie is adorable. My dogs get excited like that over squirrels in our yard.

  6. You and Gary certainly do not need this aggravation and deceit on top of being sick. I would insist on all the money back. Involve a local troubleshooter on the news if necessary. You probably are not the only ones.

Gracie, you are cute as can be. Maybe you and Mrs. Bunnie can be friends. Maybe you'll get an Easter basket of doggie bones!

    Happy Valentine's Day!

  8. Wow, that's terrible. So dishonest. I would write this up on yelp.com -- I've been so disgusted with poor customer service lately, I've resorted to writing a review of my experiences here -- since the stores rarely seem to care.

Keep taking it to them, Bobbi -- as you know, the squeaky wheel gets the oil!

  9. Awww... I am so sorry y'all are having to deal with all of that...
Tell those motel people you are broadcasting far and wide how dishonest, disreputable and lying they are... how they will not honor their membership cards....
is there some kind of district manager you could talk to? Girl... I would even call CORPORATE offices and Complain! As someone has already said on here, "the squeaky wheel gets the grease"
    Best Wishes,
    Jenni
