A Four Star Hotel?

Well, I was right.  My PCP forgot to check that I was supposed to have a chest X ray, so that meant I had to wait around another half hour until they faxed a new order.  It wouldn't have been so bad if I hadn't had to fast and my stuffy head and sore throat needed coffee and orange juice.

Here are just a few reasons why I think it's time I find a new PCP:

1. My Wednesday visit to PCP last week was fruitless because PCP forgot to call for my orders.
And they were rude, making it look like my fault.

2. They hurried me through yesterday...  and called me a half an hour after I was gone to find out if I got someone else's April appointment.  I did.

3.  Forgot to check 'chest x ray' on my orders for the hospital.

Three strikes and your out. What do you think?
I  inherited this one after my other one retired, so no big deal.  I try not to see doc's too often...   so hopefully it really won't be a big deal.

About the new hospital.

Was I in a four star hotel?  Really.

It begins with the valet service.  Never lost, because upon entering the lobby through the huge revolving glass door, someone directs me to the exact place I need to be. Three different tests were needed.  Each one was done quickly and efficiently and then I was escorted to the next one.  At the end I was showed to the door.  I've always found hospitals to be a confusing maze.  It was comforting not to have to worry about getting lost.

Okay.  That done. Yay!!

I made some chicken - noodle - dumpling soup to hopefully help get rid of my 'cold'.

Dear Diary,

Last week Mom and Dad started packing bags and talking about vacation.  I knew what that meant.  They kept saying stuff like 'Gracie it will be okay, Lindsey and Rissie will be here to feed you and take you potty'  and 'Gracie, I hate to leave you'.  Frankly...  I wasn't seeing it.  They weren't sulking with their heads hung low.  They didn't have sad eyes and and a stubby tail that wouldn't wag.  But whatever.  I pulled Moms sneaker and Dad's slipper to the middle of the floor to comfort me and there they stayed until their return.  When Lindsey and Rissie came, they brought french fries and we had fun.  But they didn't stay all that long.  It was lonely.  I was starting to think Mom and Dad weren't coming back.  But then one day, there they were.  Mom said I acted like I had springs in my feet and that I've never jumped that high before.  They brought me a ball that laughs says stuff like, 'oh no!  brrrrppp', 'hot diggety dog', and 'no, don't do that!' It's very annoying and hard so it's impossible to get the little man out of the center of it.
It doesn't matter though.

I'm just happy they're home.  Gracie.

  1. I am inclined to agree with you Bobbi, it might be time to look for another PCP. Tough run around you had. However I am glad your experience at the hospital was a better one.
    Gracie does look very content.

  2. What a day you had! It might be time to start looking for another doctor. I did that once, but got a worse doctor than the first one, then had to come back begging. Just be certain you like the new doctor and his team before you leave the old one. The picture of Gracie is totally cool, so sweet!!!

  4. Yep, need new PCP! I did after mine popped his head in and asked me if he had seen me yet.

Nice hospital, I like the ones with the colored lines to follow.

Poor Gracie, I bet all is forgiven. I know they don't like being left out.

  5. I'm with everyone else...I think you need a new PCP...Easier said than done I know...I've also found hospitals a bit confusing, even when they color code the direction I still can't follow them...

  7. I agree with the new doc verdict but like others have said, make sure you like the new one a lot. We left one and were not allowed to return to the old - - - never mind that he was not there when we had an emergency one day and had to go somewhere else! However, we are very happy with our new group. The doc even takes time to talk! Praying for a rapid recovery from everything.

  11. Doctors? Who?

Those guys that take more time with their heads stuck to their computer screens, clicking around and not even acknowledging that you are there, in front of them?

Those idiots that, when you complain that you are having tremendous stomach aches, gases and heartburns, say: "Everybody has that!"?

The imbecils that don't know your name, even after you kept them as your doctors for over ten years?

The miserable idiots that think THEY own your body and that you are supposed to do every freaking thing they tell you, and NOT ASK any questions?

Or the ones that, as soon as you ask a question, feel threatened enough to ask you back: "Are you a doctor?"

They tend to forget that, without us, their profession is worth nothing.

It's time. Pick one as if you were picking the best tomato in a market. And throw away the rotten one!

  12. OK, I give! What is a PCP? We don't use that term up here in the Arctic! lol

If it's what I think it is, a family doctor, then yes, get another.....mistakes like that could cause trouble for you down the road. And tell them that they should 'buck up'.....of course after you have another one of those PCP's (?).
Glad it all went well Bobbi. Take care.

  13. Finding a new doctor is a decision that's up to you. I have been in the medical field for over 13 years. My husband over 16 years and my Mom over 25 years. I tend to be a little more lenient on health care all together since I see what goes on on the "other side". We are busy and a lot of people don't get it. Especially in the small town that I work in.

On the other hand, when Bryan went to his Endocrinologist last month, I wasn't happy with his 5 minute appointment. The doctor walked in and said we need labs. Nothing else. $45 to see his specialist. $0 to just walk in and have blood work. I would've been madder if I didn't really like his Endocrinologist. I just thought that was a little costly for "we need labs".

My hubby works in a level 2 trauma center and I work in a little 92 bed community hospital. I laugh because my patients get lost in that little hospital and I get lost in Bryan's hospital. I am glad that you had a good experience at the hospital.

Sorry for the rambling! I hope you will find a great doctor!

Poor Gracie! We don't like leaving our kitties at all. They are usually in good hands but I still cry about it. We typically call everyday to check on them. When we came back from Disney Tigger wouldn't come out from underneath the bed. He was so mad...LOL!
