Jesus=The Reason for The Season!

I caught a glimpse of Ol' Saint Nick Saturday while strolling through the Hagerstown Mall.

And so starts another season of spending, shopping, stressing, fighting for parking places, decorating, eating too much, and wondering what happened to the real meaning of Christmas.

Spend carefully, shop considerately, be anxious for nothing, gift your good parking spot to someone else, decorate with CHRISTmas in mind and honor God, not cookies.

  2. Very good reminder! Several years back I got the holiday burnout,I think it was about the time every one had to have a big blow up yard ornament...sigh.We now have "dematerialized" our holidays and they are so much the better for it,just simple celebrations with grateful hearts.

  3. How aptly put!

    We no longer go nuts, the only decoration I have is my earring wreath, I will not go into debt for gifts that are really not appreciated, just expected - has nothing to do with Christmas.

  4. I loved your advice, I have to tell you, I do all but one of those things, so I'm going to make the effort to do that one this year (gift my good parking space to someone else, that's going to be hard as I always want the closest one). We simplified a few years back and I absolutely love it! And what we did was reach out for those who are in need, helping kids get a present who wouldn't have gotten one, etc.

    (and I do wish the malls would wait until after Thanksgiving to get the decorations up, don't you?)

  5. Thanks for the reminder. I am so glad I don't have a mall to go to or a lot of other things to stress about this holiday season.

  6. You are a girl after my the Mom's own heart! Fact is... we rarely need any fing other than what only God has or can bless us wif...

    Ever fing else is fluff. And while fluff is fun... it's not so important. Love is important!

    Wishin you love in abundance... from the Luke

  7. I couldn't agree with you more! No harried shopping for me...I plan to take my time and give thoughtful, loving gifts, savor evenings at home instead of at the mall, enjoy friends at a gathering or two, and keep a prayerful heart, so thankful for grace! Stay home and shop the internet, LOL

  9. So true! We don't go nuts with the shopping. As a matter of fact, we avoid stores as much as possible during this time of the year. I feel so bad for those that feel like they have to spend a ton on Christmas and then spend the rest of the year stressing trying to pay it off. Not us!
